How can I intercept a print job?

Is there a way I can peek into the print stream and send an email notification to the intented user? I don't want to interupt the print job. I just want to capture what ever is printing and send the content via email notification to the intended user. Whatever that is printed contains enough information for me to figure out who the intended user is, so I can send an email to that user.
