I have the file QPK1100_11.00.depot in the directory /archive/opatch/

When I use sam to try to install the patch, I get the error
"There is currently no deopt software on host "pinto" at location "/archive/opatch/"

What do I need to do to install this patch? Russell Zimmermann

Hi Russz,

/var/adm/sw is usually the default depot though I'm not sure it makes a difference where you put the files. You will probably find that you can untar the .depot file and it will create a series of depot directories. I think you can untar to any directory but I usually untar to /var/adm/sw.

Once you have untarred, you can point swinstall to that directory and it should pick up the new software you wish to install.

swinstall always expects all the files to but untarred, uncompacted and ready for processing.

Hope this is of help,

Mark

First question.. did you download the patch from HP's website. If so the patch is in tar format.

Use the following command to install the bundle
swinstall -s /archive/opatch/patchname.tar
this will start the gui for you.

If you copied the from a cd
use the following command to install the bundle
swinstall -s /archive/opatch/QPK1100_11.00.DEPOT
this will start the gui for you

this should solve your problem.

I got it to work!

Thank you to HornedOne and Trini for your help.
