I installed an Iomega Zip 100 (Atapi)on NT 4.0 machine and when booted showed up as "B" drive which is fine. Clicked on "Removable drive B" to copy files and got this msg: "B:\ is not accessible. Volume doesn't contain a recognised file system. Please make sure all file system drives are loaded." R-click on drive and "Format" but nothing happens. Thought I would run the Iomega CD and window where I choose which programmes to install has the top line greyed out "Drivers & something (must be installed)" I continue on and get error msg "shortcts.dll could not be found in specified path c:\winnt\system32." I searched and found that file and ran install again and got the same message only with "ioReady.dll" couldn't be found. What am I doing wrong. I'm not at all familiar with NT4. Any help will be appreciated................Nev

The Zip drive shouldn't be the B: drive. Windows tends to think that it is a floppy. You want NT to look at the drive as a removeable hard drive. Almost all of our NT workstations have Zip drives. On some machines, I have to diable the BIOS from looking for the Zip drive. Also, download the lastest IomegaWare.

Once the hardware is installed, run the software and it should locate the Zip for you.

You may have to disable the "B" drive in your system BIOS so that the ZIP will pick up the next "good" letter.

Some Dell BIOSes allow you to use the floppy drive letters for removeable drives. Disable this in the BIOS and NT will see the drive correct once it moves past C.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. I will try that and see let you know how I went........Nev

Hello again and thanks again. Unable to disable floppy B as is old FX board with AMI BIOS. Disable floppy and I lose the "A" drive. A patch from Microsoft fixed it and is now "Removable drive E". MS are aware of this particular prob which happens only with the Atapi version of the internal Iomega Zip 100 and have included the fix in the latest NT4 service pack.
Again, thanks for all replies.
