How can I have the PDF's on our website only be allowed to download 4 times and make it a non-saveable file. Also how can I have customers be able to pay directly on our website instead of using a third partly like Chase bank. Thanks in advance

"How can I have the PDF's on our website only be allowed to download 4 times" you can't. the sort of protection you're describing is too easy to bypass to be considered 'protection'. look into acrobat's security / encryption protection (
You can have customers pay directly by establishing a merchant banking account (which accepts card payments) and developing a secure web presence which records customer's payment details (card #, amount, etc) to be processed by your merchant account.

manarth, thank you for your help. I checked out the adobe website and found it very useful. Have you ever heard any information about PayPal. I heard Ebay and international companies use it for customers to use as an electronic pay system. We are looking into something like this where customers can pay directly from our website using there credit card. Is it required that all the other websites go through a merchant account to inially set up an electronic pay system on their website. Thanks in advance for any help. I am new to all this.

Anyone can setup a personal paypal account - the idea being if a user pays into your account, paypal charge you for transferring the money from your paypal account to your bank account.

You don't need a merchant bank account to use paypal - you do require a bank account with some sort of debit card (visa / delta / switch / solo / etc) to allow payments to and fro.

Paypal do some good "instant pay" links, where a customer could simply click on a link on your page and be taken straight into paypal's transaction page to pay for the specified item.

Thanks so much manarth for your help. I have never heard of debit cards with the name switch, solo, delta. Are these debit cards that are used internationally?

I user paypal and love it! they dont charge me anythign for a non-comercial account. Actually they give me 1.04 interest on what money I have in there. In order to get your money out you can have them mail you a check (2 weeks) or you can do a direct deopsit (3 days I think), neither charge.

I have both PayPal and a Merchant account that I use on my web site. The downside to PayPal is that people have to go through a few extra steps to open an account - and this can take several days or more if the customer is outside the US. PayPal was pretty easy to set up, but if you want people to be able to pay you with credit cards, you may need a commercial account which charges a small amount for each transaction.

My Merchant account is processed through a Bank and Authorize.NET. The downside to a Merchant account is that there is usually a minimum monthly charge from the bank, so if you don't have at least $1000 in sales, you are really spending more. to process the transaction. Also, if you use a service like Authorize.NET you will probably have a start up fee of $200 or a higher monthly fee.
