How can I have a video & voice conversation with smoothwall?

Hi!

I've installed Smoothwall on a old Compaq computer, it now works as a router.

But I have a problem, I can't have video & voice conversations anymore.. How do I fix this?

If I can't fix it I have to go back to ICS, and I really don't want to.

H323 is a complete and utter nightmare to masqurade. There is a
helper module (kernel part) that adds some crude support - basically
outgoing connections only. It's not included in smoothie cos it is not a
complete solution.


What we do here for H323 is to use a smoothie VPN. ALL programs work (the
VPN transparently routes the networks), and we get 3DES encryption of all
traffic (including voice) too.


An alternatve, which a few firewalls do, is to run a conferencing server
on the firewall box itself. That way people on the LAN connect to it, and
people on the outside do likewise. This would work, and there is a free
H323 conferencing server available that could be added to smoothie - see

- but it is insecure to buggery, and is another service
running on the firewall, this time accepting connections from the outside.
