i have a table with multiple lookups and i'm using this with a query for a form - the trouble is i need to see 10 fields from each of the lookup tables and the 4 fields related to these records from the main table in the query. This adds upto 288 fields - any ideas on a solution?

Do you have to show all at once? Can't you first show the main information and then let the user click on the fields to view the related information for that field?

I can't see the mening of showing the user so much information at once (but I don't know what it is you want to do). Feels like an OLAP problem.

The user is not seeing these fields (relates to my previuos message about functions)i wrote after update events on a bound field on the form that used the 10 fields from the lookup tables,
ie; UNITS ordered = 1 to 500+,
for example if 200 units ordered then check 200+ price, if no 200+ price then check 100+, if no 100+ price then check 50+ and so on. For my procedure to work it needs all the price fields (held in a query for each unit type)
does this make sense ?

Sorry really new to this, what is an 'OLAP' problem.

Ok. Now I think I understand your problem a little better. You want to summarize some values based on criteria’s that the user fills in to the form? I think I should open a new recordset based on the current information in the form on the update event, and use that recordset to calculate the prices.

OLAP = OnLine Analytical Processing. Se more on the OLAP forum.

thanks for your reply - but now i am lost....open a new recordset ? how would i do this ?
