Please help!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a formaer Corel Draw user and when I select a box that has type filled in and move the bounding box, the text re-flows to fit the new box size. In illustrator, every time I select the text box, (with any selection tool) all I can do is move the text box. How do I get the text handles to appear and the cursor to change to the arrow so I can re-size the box........and the text will stay the same point size and just re-flow to fit the new width?

there are basically two ways to add text to illustrator.

1. just click anywhere with the text tool and start typing , or

2. drag a designated area on your artboard with the text tool and start typing, all text is kept with this bounding box and can be aligned to suit.

of, course text can also be applied to paths and around shape with the text to path tool.

using the black selection tool, you should be able to pull the bounding box around to suit your needs in method 2. typing using method 1 distorts the text only.

best of luck!
