Hi my friends,
I have my Lab Top working under NT work station 4.0 and I have a MSN internet account working well in my other computer with WIN 95. My problem is I contacted Microsoft support to get MSN installation CD for NT they told me it doesn't work under NT, the same answer from AOL
Can any one tell me what is the best way to get my computer connected to the internet from my home using my MSN account or any other way.
Thanks in advance Walid Magd

You need to manually setup your MSN through dial-up networking. I have done this on my NT box for my MSN account so I know it works. Simply find out what you Local access number is, and any other dial-up settings MSN requires, I believe they require encrypted password authentication, set-up your dial-up networking to connect to the MSN server, and viola you are in. I am very surprised that the MSN support people told you it will not work on NT and left you at that. They should have told you how to manually set-up a DUN connection. I would suggest calling them back and saying something like this.... "your software is not working on my computer, I want to set-up my MSN account dial-up settings manually, can I please speak to a technical support rep. that can assist me?" Don't mention Win NT or the fact that you called before. Just be vague and ask for tech support NOT customer support. I think that will get you on the right track.

Good Luck,

You will find everything you need explained there, right along with local access numbers.

In NT/2000, you do have to setup a dial-up networking connection and enable secure password authentication. Then when you connect it will use SPA (secure password authentication) to connect you in appropriately.

If you have a web account with MSN (because you installed the new MSN Explorer), you will just have to get your e-mail online like hotmail. It doesn't sound like you did that, so you shouldn't run into too much of a problem getting it going.

I wouldn't call in (personally)...just try using the site and e-mail me somehow if you need more specific help or troubleshooting because I have a personal MSN account and I check e-mail on Win98/WinNT and Win2000. You can always post here again too at Tek-Tips!

Good Luck, B-)
