Nope it's not working, after I close down the computer and start up IE all the urls are gone. I'm using google toolbar could this be the cause?

Try uninstalling google toolbar.
Does the behavior persist?
Let us know.

As another possiblity, is TweakUI installed on the machine with "Clear document, run, typed-URL history on exit" enabled?

Thx Carr for responding, I got it fixed. It was MRUblaster, it was clearing everything out, like the urls, entries in start/run and start/Documents. I just uninstalled it and good riddance to it to lol! I was tearing my hair out trying to figure out what it was. I thought it was some setting I tweaked in tools/folder options in control panel but I reset the defaults, then I thought it must be something in tools/internet options, but I reset the defaults back there too. Then I remebered that little programme.

Very good. Thanks for the follow-up.

pech,

Watch out for that program as it often kills cookies needed for secure sites. There have been other complaints about what it does for SSL sites on a next-time basis.

bill, thx for the advice, I took it off, it was deleting everything, not much of a software programme if it deletes all your history in IE urls, folder docs, start run etc.!
