seems like there's a way to do this but im drawing a total blank today. I have a live database and i want to create a new database with the existing tablespace and datafile structure. Is there not some easy way to get the create tablespace scripts from the existing db?

thanks for any suggestions

i finally figured out how to do it using the Enterprise Manager control, but i still think there's a way to select the sql from the running database.

bookouri,

google for dbms_metadata.get_ddl and you'll get all that you need.

Ask Tom has some useful real-world examples.

Another way might be to use export with rows=n . You'll still have to do a little post-processing on the output file though to get exactly what you want

Actually, Taupirho, exp does not create tablespaces (which is what bookouri is asking about).[smile]
