I've checked the Microsoft Knowledge Base. They recognize this to be an error but their solution is to download the latest service pack. I've done that (SP-3) but it didn't solve the problem. What else can I do. Thanks
There are a couple of threads on this. Try uninstalling hotfixes Q329170 and Q328310. You might want to search the forum using these for more complete answers.
Your best bet is a web site called EventID.net. This site details fixes, workarounds for specific event viewer issues such as yours. There are various solutions to Event ID 1000 error, but it all depends on your SPECIFIC error message. I've had various "1000" errors, some have to do with permissions, Group Policy, or corrupted profiles. Check it out, you will be glad you did.
It's just as good as Tek-Tips, probably better for NT/2000/XP related troubleshooting.
