On PDN 2504 key 3 is a PVR key. THis is a POTS line that my boss has had ported to his house and wants me to give him a new one. Based on the below info, how do i find the phone number that's CURRENTLY there (which I happen to know, but I'm wondering what I would do if I didn't) and once I identify an unused POTS line (which thankfully I DO know how to do) how do i get that new one to ring on key 3?

At the Telco Demac remove the COT from the TN it is connected to and replace it with the new one.

So all i have to do is get another unused POTS line and pull the x-connect off TN 20-1-3-2 and punch the new one to same TN? well, where does DN 6974 come into play? do i need to change that? i guess not, right? i don't need to change his phone at all, right? and if i was making a new PVR key, I'd just find an unused DN and program new rout?? i am finally seeing the light! thank you again Acewarlock!

Ace, it worked like a charm. EXCEPT for one thing. When i pulled up member 20 in route 31 i got TN 20-1-3-2. However, THERE WAS NO CROSS CONNECT ON THIS TN. When I tugged the x-connect from POTS line 490-1454 it was punched down to TN 20-1-3-FOUR, not TWO. when i did a TNB on 20-1-3-4 I got SCH805 (TN is invalid).??? in either case, i punched down the next available POTS to TN 20-1-3-4 and it worked great! but i am VERY confused about TN 20-1-3-2. The PBX printout gave that TN as member 20 in rout 31.
Also, how do i change the TKID to the new telephone #? thanks Acewarlock.

Your counting the TN's wrong, they don't count the same as phones. and you don't have to change anything except the crossconnect.

no, I didn't count wrong. I most definitely know how to count TNs, as I tone out jacks all day long and the like. the POTS line was punched to 20-1-3-4, NOT 20-1-3-2. The TNs are all labelled too. i even made someone else come up and look cause i couldn't understand what was going on. he shrugged his shoulders. Now my POTS line is PHYSICALLY punched down to TN 20-1-3-4, but in software it shows at 20-1-3-2. i am not making this up!

Build something on 20 1 3 4 and punch it down on 20 1 3 2. Maybe the wires are punched down wrong on the back of your blocks.

Fletch you posted this on the wrong question, so I coppied it here for you.

tcomanalyst:

Just to be sure you are clear, you understand Trunk cards count differently from stations. You skip a pair on the trunk cards between TN's.

Trunk
00 -- 01 -- 02 -- 03 -- 04 -- 05 -- 06 -- 07 --
Station
00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 15

You see where 02 and 04 line up? This is why you were asked if you counted the TN's right.
