Hello everyone,

How can I use existing .pst file from other PC to new PC using oulook 2000? I don't want to reconfigure the mail box again. I want this existing .pst file for sending/recieving and everything. Is there a way I can have outlook to use this .pst ONLY rather then seeing this .pst file as a personalize folder or thru import/export.

Thanks.

You can use the existing pst file by setting this file as the Personal Folders file in Services. But, the pst file does not contain your mail account settings if that's what you're after.

Thanks for your reply. I would like to configure my current .pst file for both send/receiving. Can I do that with my .pst file is configured as personalize folder.

Thanks

The .pst file is the storage file. Outlook does the sending and receiving using whatever storage file is specified in: Services, Personal Folders.

Yea I see what you saying now. However, I have one other problem now. Geez I have outlook. Ok, the older pc (from which I was transferring .pst file from) was running outlook 2003 and its total size was 181 mb. Now the new pc has outlook 2000 so when I try to open that .pst file using outlook 2000, it doesn't work. Its says something like, the property of this personalize folder should be defined prior to its usage and then later on it gives me a long error ( message which I will summarize for you) the .pst file is not compatible with this version of personalize folder information service. Contact your system admin.

I guess I would have to use outlook 2003 since outlook 2000 only allows you to have only 2gb .pst file limit.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks.
