How can I edit an invisible xla excel file ? 1

The file was created in Excel 4.0. It is listed in the VBA Project list, but cannot be open to edit?

It likely resides in your XLSTART folder.

Have you tried Window-Unhide while you're in any Excel file or just after you open Excel? Anne Troy

The unhide button is grayed out and cannot be used. This la file is directly linked to another xls file only.

May or may not be significant, but if I remember correctly, Excel 4 used "old-style" macro sheets. (Not VBA.)

Goto the Project in the VBE, select the ThisWorkbook object and enable the Properties window (F4).

You should be able to set the IsAddin property to False. Then return to Excel and if the workbook is not visible, try Windows, Unhide.

You may then have to unhide or find the XL4 macro sheets.
