HOW CAN I DISABLE MERGE IN ARCSERVE 6.61?

I make every day 2 back-ups of our files on the servers.
But when i have to restore a file i have to merge it.
this takes a lot of time and i will disable this feature.
How can i do this.

You can't disable the merge option. If it is asking you to merge the session that means the specific session you are trying to restore has been pruned from the database. Check in Server Admin what your prune job is set to. If you delete the prune job your AS database will continue to grow and this may not be a good idea. If you typically restore recent backups you may want to set the job to prune sessions older than 30 days.

I agree with frdba. It sounds like the session was pruned from the database.

If you want to restore data without merging the tape then your only option is "Restore by Backup Media". However, this has limitations. You can only restore the entire session and most likely is only compatible with file backups.
