How can I determine what system ? 1

Can I do it from the phone? Also for Voicemail. I need to set up a attendant that will be Press 1 for ...Press 2 for...etc. I am used to this being doen in Voicemail. I am not familar with NEC systems. Also...I don't have remote access.

Need to know what NEC phone system you have (Elite, 2000IVS / IVS2 / IPS or 2400).

Sure...how do I do that? Is there a terminal? Can hook a laptop to it? What does it look like? Wall mount? Under the fridge? I honestly don't know anything about NEC. I do have a NEC D Term Series 2 phone...maybe that will narrow it down. I am not at the facility but need to set this up for a remote office.

With the phone hung up / idle do the following:

Press Conference
Press Transfer
Press * (the star key)
Press Conference again
Press tranfer again
Press #

If "COMMAND=" shows in the display then you have a NEC 2000

(When done, lift the handset and hang it back up to reset)

If that doesn't work then try this...

Press Feature and a button on a phone
if something on the display shows VACANT or UNUSED or 01: (or any 2 digit number then its probably an old NEC Electra Pro II.

If neither of these 2 items work and it is a large site (100 or more phones) it's a good chance it's an old NEC 2400.
