Firstly I would perform a full uninstall of the software, and although this should remove every item, it very rarely does. The actual method of removing the remnants depends on the software itself.
Any well behaved software will store details related to itself in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\<company name>\<product name> key, with user specific information in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\<company name>\<product name>
so run the registry editor (start -> run regedit.exe) and search for it in this location. If nothing comes up, search for the path that the application was stored in, the file extensions that the application uses for storing its data.
However, it is important to note that the vast majority of excess registry entries will not harm the computer, and if you are not careful, it is possible to trash the operating system by removing or editing incorrect entries.
