How can I delete files?

Hi, my external hard drive is inaccessible (damaged), because of an I/O error. I can use programs like, 'PC Inspector', and 'Restorer2000 Pro' to access the files in the corrupt drive, but they don't have the option to delete any files or folders. I have tried using other programs that can delete files/folders, but they can't access the corrupt drive at all.

Does anyone know of any programs that can access the files in the damaged drives, but can also delete the files once inside?

No, that program can't find or recognize a corrupt drive. I need a program that is like a 'File Recovery' tool/program that has the option to delete files or folders. I have tried PC Inspector, and Restorer2000 Pro, but they don't have delete options.

As I said in my above post, most programs that can 'securely delete' files can't even find damaged drives. Believe me, I have tried many.

Someone please help me.

I'd recover the data, then repartition/reformat the drave. At that point, fill it with files of a given size, then secure delete the files. At this point the partition is new and the disk is clean, and you can put back whatever files/file structure you want to remain on the disk.

If the objective is wipe all the data from the drive, Acronis Drive Cleanser might be an option. It runs from windows, so it should be able to access the external drive. Use caustion, it will wipe-out all of your data.

If you are junking the HDD because it is corrupted and you are just wanting to make sure that nobody can get the data - you can always dismantle the HDD...

Little bit of sledge hammer therapy can go a long way too.
