I'm not quite sure how you are going to de-compile this, but is this some kind of slide show? If you wanted to, a quick method would be to view the .exe and at the images part press Print Screen and then paste that into photoshop and crop the images and save them as files.
I just checked out all the automate commands where this would be likely to show up and I don't see anything that will do this, nor have I ever heard of any thing that does this.
lebisol,
I don't think it's M$ although it could be. It could even be some kind of powerpoint pres that it created into an .exe that contains the viewer so that one doesn't need powerpoint to view the slide show. It might be some other graphics program, Paintshop Pro, Corel, etc.
same here spyderix....that is why I said it "smells like M$".....slide show or something like that....but the poster needs to explain more about the file....is it truly a file.exe or it just runs "like" executible ?
I have not heard of PS (have been using it since v 5 came out) making .exe(s)....proofsheets yes but no slideshows....anyhow
i have tired to open it with power point,
and with ms word, neither worked, however
when i opened it with ms word i converted the text to
version and as i scrolled down the page to see what programme had been used it said adobe photoshop 5.2.
so i assumed this is what it had been done on,
it is a EXE auto run file, when i right click on the file
i can only play the slide show, i cannot get into it.
That is weird. Since when does photoshop make auto run slideshows. This is beyond me.
I think you might have to go via the print screen method although that is going to be a very lengthy process, it might be the only way to save your images.
If a copyright notice comes up when you try to use print screen then my guess is your NOT supposed to get access to the individual pictures...
It sounds like a proof or promo file, the individual files were probably done in photoshop then put into a exe file for viewing and copyright protecting.
these photos are of my wedding 4 weeks ago
the photographer supplys you with a proof
cd-rom with all the pictures on it,
we have to pick some form it, and have the developed,
however at £10 per pic i dont have £3500 lieing around,
so i was hoping i could access the disc to get at the photos we were not buying
Your photographer makes money by selling you prints not on taking the pictures, I assume that you knew the price of the prints before hiring the photographer. Getting around the copyright would be nothing short of stealing his work. No photographer expects you to purchase prints of all the proof pictures, if that is what you want you should try and negotiate a better price, I'm sure he'd be receptive.
"Getting around the copyright "
--so if u hire a contractor to build u a house...he owns it afterwards?
I see no problem of printing it yourself...you payed him for the "act of taking photos and negatives" (negatives here being a CD). Now if u start selling these photos as "taken by you"...then the copy rights are at stake.
otherwise every photo studio that takes your negatives and makes prints is violating the copy right--- I HAVE to dissagre.
mcedmond :
have u tried the free software from the link above?
have u tried "stopping the slide show" by hitting escape key or any?
have u tried to "explore" the CD vs. letting the autorun.inf tak over?
....
