How can I create PDF document? Got tools?

Howdy!

I need to create PDF document out of our home grown application. If I can make it happen from the command prompt, I can make it happen from within my application.

That said, I need to get a hold of binaries/utilities that will allow me to do this. I searched forum and found one other post dating back a couple of years but there were no solid suggestions. I hope that by now, there will be something I can use.

you can create pdf docs using perl, php, openoffice, etc.

We produce a great number of standard and custom forms. We need to be able to produce these forms in PDF for emailing and possibly, TIFF for faxing. The PDF format is a priority.

what is the format of your form? are they files? text files?

Files will be a mixture of PCL, HPGL and text.

I am contenplating a product called FineLine Trapeze from Sound Ideas Corp

They also have a handful of other applications I can use like FineLine PC DataPipe.

Of course, if I can find a more affordable solution, I am open to suggestions.
