Hi Guys, I'm a newbie trying to create an outline from a solid object.

For example, if I drew a Square in a thin pen, that would be the result I am looking for, but I need to create the outline from an irregular solid shape I have scanned into PSP.

I need the the line to be very fine.

I've tried the search and FAQ's on this great site, but to no avail.

Hopefully you can help.

Thanks in anticipation,

Paul.

Well, the best way is to create a new vector object by manually tracing your scanned in shape. I used this techique to create the maps at , but it's a laborious process.

A faster, dirtier way to do it would be:

Use the Magic Wand tool to select your irregular object (or maybe select the background and then reverse the selection).

Create a new layer.

Use the Flood Fill tool to paint the whole selection in the colour you want the line to be.

Use the Selection menu to modify the selection by reducing its size by one pixel.

Press the delete key to remove the colouring from the middle of the shape, what's left will be a one pixel outline.
