How can I create a search zipcode in asp?

I know that there is software out there to generate this search. Would it be better for me to buy the software or code it myself? I know that there must be hundreds of sites that could probably contain this code for people to use and that I could modify but again, I would like to hear from you amigos.

This would be my first time trying this in ASP and I am not scared of SQL. I understand that I need to create a database. The problem I see is searching within let say 10 mile or a 5 mile radius from zipcode currently entered.

If you can point me to a site with a tutorial or free code on this, I would appreciate it.

I am not sure if I am getting my point accross here. I want people to come to my site and enter their home address or zip code so they can find a store near their home address.
