dear sir

i would like to know how can i Control Printer Attributes for a
printer at Run
Time Like page width , height etc

we are using oracle reports 6i as reporting tool.
my problem is i had installed a printer and it is set for
printing different reports ( like invoice slips , legal size ,
A3 etc ) each time i have to manually set the page settup from
printer folder .instead if there is an option to set the printer
attributes from Reports 6i it is great

tom if u have got time pls send me a reply ( i know u are busy
with other oracle
products..... i had posted this question oracle forums but no

....

will u place this question to an expert there to solve this
problem

if u cannt leave this

send me a reply

I haven't used 6i all that much, but I know you can designate a particular report (or even a page for that matter) to go to a particular drawer/tray. Have a look at the command srw.set_printer_tray. This receives a string value (I looked in my printer setup to see what it called them..for example Drawer1, Drawer2, etc...or maybe Tray1, Tray2, etc...).

Hi. I'm assuming your using Windows? What we do for some special printing is have a local printer defined on the users PC. The default values for the printer will force it into the correct tray and for other values that can not be set within reports. Then the destname is used to point to the local printer. The local printer is maped to a network printer.

Are you doing this from an Oracle Application or from a custom application? You can write an initialization string to send the printer by customizing a printer driver in applications.
From my custom applications I just make sure my report is set up correctly and create a .prt file with your specs. Search the reports help file for "printer codes" and it is quite helpful.
