will my win modem work?

what kind of modem or mother board do i need?

Some winmodems work, some don't. there is a list of compatable hardware out there somewhere you can find. As for the motherboard most boards that will run windows will run Linux.

If you're looking to dial up, and can't find a modem that isn't a "win modem" then you might look into getting an external modem, because they connect through a standard serial, and are usually pretty compatible with Unix/Linux. I LOVE my USR external.. it is great The weevil of doooooooooom
