We've got a problem with creating an ODBC connection to SQL. We are using a TCP/IP connection on port 1433, however after a period of time, the ODBC connection is lost causing the PC to hang and cannot be recreated. Someone mentioned that Microsoft programs like to disable ports, is there any way to see what is using a particular port on a PC??

Thanks in advance
Jackie

go into the My Computer then go into the control panel then from there you will see an icon that says ports and it is a list of all your ports on your computer and the ones that are being used and the ones that are not being used. Hopefully this helps.
