How can I change ALL received emails to RICH TEXT?

I have Outlook 2003, but many on our network still have
earlier versions of Outlook. I'm on my own in solving this problem, and I've tried unsuccessfully to find a way within Outlook to automatically change to rich text when I read or respond to an email. (Either or both would be good.) Does anyone have a macro that might do this for me upon opening the received email or upon clicking the forward or reply button? In case it matters, here's why...

I need all my email chains to show attachments in the body, so they are seen in the context of the particular message to which they were originally attached. When I forward HTML messages, attachments are listed at the beginning (below the subject line), but nothing appears in the email chain to show which email they were originally connected to. When I have to respond to emails that came to me in html or plain text, I change them to rich text before sending. This gets old with HTML messages, since I have to go from HTML to plain text to rich text.

Not to mention the wallpaper, large fonts, and other personalize formatting that makes a long email chain seem even longer because of the huge spaces between lines and paragraphs! I digress. Thank you to anyone who can help!! Oh, I've never used macros in Outlook, so I may need a bit of coaching in setting it up too. Thanks again!!

There is a macro available at The macro is used in conjunction with a rule that fires for each message delivered to the inbox. Have a read of the text on the page, there are some drawbacks to this approach, the main one being that any embedded images in HTML messages won't be visible.

You may want to assign a button on the toolbar so that you can reply to the message, and change the format by clicking on the button before inserting attachments.
