I mean I have a text with too many references, like this:

the text.1 2 3 4 5 6

and I want to change it to:

the text.1 - 6

I mean, I want to mantain the references, but I don't want all the numbers to appear, it looks bad. I just want the first and the last number, with a dash in between. Or "1 to 6"

Is this possible?

Not sure I follow you on exactly what you have and what you want....

Can you not just edit it in the header/footer? If you don't have links in those numbers, based on what you're saying, it seems all you gotta do is type it in..

Hi,

There are so many ways to reference in Word. Please be specific and painfully detailed and describe EXACTLY what kind of reference, how you generated the reference... EVERYTHING about the reference.

Please be CLEAR, CONCISE and COMPLETE.

Hi!

I create the reference: insert->reference->footnote. And then endnote.

I write the text for the reference.

I repeat for the rest of references.

When I finish I have a lot of numbers for the references, one after another, like I said:1 2 3 4 5 6

(they are linked to the reference text at the end of the document, but I cannot format them that way here)

I would prefer them to look just like1 - 6 or 1 to 6 because too many numbers look bad.

I don't know if this is possible.
