We have 70 store locations with vpn connections through cisco 871 routers. Every time there is some disruption, the tunnel drops, which I understand. The only problem is that it does not re-establish the connection. The only way to bring back the tunnel is to telnet into the router and reload it manually. Is there a way to have the router automatically try to re-establish the tunnel?

Thanks a ton in advance.

Not sure you may be able to clear the crypto key and let reestablish .

Will I have to do that every time it goes down, or just once to correct it?

Is this an IPSec tunnel? Do you have keep-alives configured?
