When I telnet a Sun box from a local Linux box,
I set DISPLAY=localhostname:0.0,
and do " /usr/openwin/bin/xhost +"
in remote Sun box,but I get wrong information as "
Unable to open display localhostname:0.0 "

what is mattter ?

Thanks very much

Hi,

I think u have been giving the two commands on the
remote server(Sun Box)....what u have to do is ---
1)Give the xhost command from linux box.It provides
windows environment of this box to other servers.
2)Then u export the DISPLAY on your Sun Box so that
it has the environment of the local box.

Here's what I do... Log on to local machine. Start X. Open a terminal and issue a xhost + . Telnet to the remote machine /usr/openwin/bin/xterm -display 192.168.0.50:0.0 &
Of course put your own ip in there. You will then get an xterm window running on the other computer but displaying on yours. From there, you can start running programs remotely. Another way is from linux (before starting X ) do a X -query 192.168.0.25 that will query the system at 192.168.0.25 for a full screen remote login.
