I have a big shot of a company who wants calls transferred from externally to be answered by his personal assistant and any internal calls to ring at his phone. He wants to keep one extension for all calls. Anybody ever done a applicaton like this before or have any ideas? I've tried a vector with ani but only problem would be he would have two different extensions. Any help appreciated.

What about a coverage path? Setup his extension as an X port and modify internal vs. external call handling.

You need to alter the incomming call treatment on your incomming trunks so that iff they ring his ddi ie XX1234 it deletes the digits and inserts the secretary extension. This only affects external calls.

heyitsthephoneguy, which coverage criteria do I change to make it work?
ideal, I want only transferred calls to be treated this way and not DID calls. Thx guys.

I dont know what differences there may be with newer versions of software.
But you can treat internal and external calls differently
with the coverage paths.
If he he wants all external calls going to an assistant
just sent the external criteria all to y. he will still get internal calls based on the internal criteria.
You can also link 2 different coverage paths together by entering the second one in the next space.

Check out EC500. Allows simultanious ringing to multiple locations on and off net.

Hope this helps...

There are quite a lot of cool things you can do with EC500. In fact this switch is a multivantage switch. But because of the time constrainst from the big shot our solution ended up being setting up his extension as a VDN. The vector would check the ANI and if it were a 4 digit then it would go directly to his phone, then cover to remote (goes to a DID phantom ext). If more than 4 digits then it would go to his secretary if no answer would cover remote to the DID. His personal DID would go directly to his phone then cover to remote for voicemail. When I get some spare time I will try to find a better way of doing this unless somebody from this forum would have any solutions.....

You can use Coverage Path to do it all. By marking 'Outside Call' field 'all' with a 'y' it will automataicaly go to the first point of cover. Similiarly, inside calls will ring on his phone only if he is not on the phone or does not have SAC on. I would add Voice Mail or another extension as a 2nd point of coverage in case the assistant is not there. This should work with any version of Definity.

This would work but he also wants his DID calls to go directly to his phone and not to his secretary. His DID would not be listed except would be given to his family. I should of mentioned this. Happy holidays!!

Set the coverage path for boss phone as 4merAvaya said.
Create new (phantom) extension with port X and create coverage path for it - external calls/all y, and only coverage point is boss extension (probably secretary as second coverage point).
Change trunk services table so it changes boss extension to phantom extension.

Your right, I will give that a try over the holidays. Thank-you all for you help. Happy holidays!!
