Hello All,

I am planning to carry out some segementation of my flat network with a few vlans and maybe a router to break up the single broadcast domain we currently have.

Before I do, can anyone give me a insight into the following please.

Is there any way/software cisco or non-cisco that will show me how busy my network is at the moment. It consists of 2950 10/100 and 2960 1Gb switchs at the moment. I would like to see how many frames are 'flying' across the network during busy times of the day and then maybe re-test it after I have made a few changes, too see if the network is more efficent. I have had a few users randomly telling me the in-house software that we use is giving connectivity error but its fine about about 30 seconds or so. I just wanted to know if there is any recommeded software that will give me some information about how busy my LAN is.

Thanks

MRTG is probably the best free tool to use. Just do a search on MRTG.

Thanks vipergg, I'll give it a go now.

Cheers
