Hello.
I want to know how big the A+ certification is in other countries. The majority of employers in Sweden have never heard about it.
Is the Linux+ certification accepted by Linux Administrators?
A+ is a joke for the most part, alot of the exam covers
old old hardware that id be shocked to see being used in a work environment. even mentions 8088 hardware. the os is a crock too. but sadly employers (that dont know better) like to see the A+ cert. its so bad that i have to study for it because it talks about things from before i got into computers which i have been into since 1994.
Before knocking that the test covers old systems please remember that there are a lot of legacy systems out there that need support. Case in point, I do COBOL programming on a WANG VS that was built in the '70s.
I agree that A+ is valuable. A PC tech needs to know a wide spectrum of architectures. I was a tech for a number of years and worked on old 386's to PIIIs. Sometimes in the same day. Each has its own config such as can it read a drive bigger than 2 gig? If not you need to let the customer know it will be partitioned. And don't think you can always talk the customer into a new system.
