How about NIS

I am thinking about to setup NIS in my network. Cause I have 10 users for just 4 redhat7.2 computers. I tried to install NIS server and NIS clients. It seems that the server and the client can comunication with each other. On the client side I can su the user set up on the server side, but can not do anything even ls. I do not know if I need to setup other stuff expecially on server side. The other quesiton, I heard that NIS is very dangerous, I wonder if it is a good idea to setup this.
