I am new to PageMaker and under an extreme deadline, trying to create A5 profile cards for senior Aboriginal elders in Central Australia. (Fairly simple, coloured background, text and graphics).
My immediate question is as above - how do I sit two A5 documents on the same A4 page? Also, would anyone know of a site I can visit to get a basic rundown and to the use and basic functions of PageMaker. Thankyou !!

Lucy: may be aborigines, may be Hollwood actresses -
this will work:
Make an empty A4 page.
Open your first A5 page. Mark All. Group (for safety). Copy.
Place on A4. Rotate 90° , Adjust, Save A4.
Open your second a5 page .....and so on.
Re-translated from German. Hope you can understand it.
Copy copies to the Clipboard.
Perhaps helpful is this document about "Masterpages and Hyperlinks"
for beginners (please download by right mouseclick first
and read and print then, it´s not understandable by screen reading.
The print on non-Postscript printers may show some hidden elements)
Nevertheless - a basic training, following the User Guide, is essential.
Hope this helps ---G.Hoffmann

A more general solution for two A4 on one A4.
Downscaling by factor 0.7071 doesn´t not work for text.
Solutions:
a) Make an EPS from each A4. Placed EPS is scalable.
b) Assemble on A3 and print by Postscript printer downscaled.

Hi Lucy,

A good tip to make the placement of the A5 documents on the A4 paper is to draw a rectangular of the same size as the A5 and make it fit on the page borders.

If you copy this with the rest of the page the placement on the A4 is easyer

Grillhouse: even this good idea can be improved:
Make rectangles in both A5 pages and align them
to the A4 page borders; exactly or slightly shifted,
using guidelines (auxiliary lines).
This for the case, when the original A5 pages
don´t have good reference lines. ----G.Hoffmann
