:hover (the very simplest implimentation) not working 1

I have the simplest a:hover, just a text colour swap on mouse over.
Any idea why it's not working?

I don't think this could be simpler, actually, but its driving me nuts.

You have the hover before the link and visited. See

If you want to go for the full set and include :focus pseudoclass, it's link - visited - focus - hover - active, or...
