Hi,

I just opened a new doctors' office and I would like to setup a wireless "hotspot" for patients that are waiting. How can I do this? Is there a good out of the box solution I can jsut plug and play with security? We have a Windows 2003 server based network with 3 client desktops, 2 wireless tablets.

Hi,
I don't know of any plug and play Wireless solutions that support both security and hotspot features. However, you could install a cheap DSL line and drop a Linksys Wireless Router in. This will provide a cheap solution without the overhead of setting up accounts.

Rgds,

John

I would recommend getting any wireless router and using it with the existing connection.

You may want to set up WPA and have clients ask for the key at the front desk.

You may want to also leave it completely open so anyone can use it.

Keep in mind, adding wireless exposes your network. You might also want to implement vlans to keep their traffic from your office traffic. That's when it gets complicated.
