I am using IE 5.5 SP2 on Windows 2000 and have found that viewing my Hotmail mailbox causes a problem with IE. If I close or delete a message (usually the final one where it returns to the Inbox) IE will close down all open browser windows suddenly and without any kind of prompt. No error messages of any kind are displayed, the windows just disappear and that is that.
Microsoft support do not seem to recognise this problem, and I was wondering if anyone else has noticed it and perhaps knows how to avoid it (other than to stop using Hotmail, which I am seriously considering). I don't really want to upgrade to IE 6.0 sinc emy virus scanner (mcafee) does not support that. Besides I honestly don't think that would make much difference. I have had this problem since IE 5.0 and upgrading only make it go away temporarily - after a few weeks it always comes back.
Would be grateful for suggestions.
Thanks.
Stuart
