Can someone help me remember how to program a hotline, I have a gate phone that I need to automatically call our security shack when it is picked up.

The secret is to program the #01 (Pound Zero one) Speed dial with what ever you want it to dial.

Right! A "hotline" phone is nothing more than an analog station that autodials the first telephone number in it's speed dial list (when the handset is lifted). Make sure that the speed dial entry is in place--as merlinman pointed out--then go to Extensions > More > More > HotLine to define the extension as a hotline phone.
