Can a user with an assigned DN and IP set use hotdesk to login at another set? I have several users that split time between 2 offices in the same 3300ICP. Traditionally we assign their ext as a key on the second desk with an msg light.

You need the class of service on the both sets configured to allow hotdesk login. You need a free User license to create a hotdesk profile for the user ( i.e the user doesn't have a phone anymore just a profile ). You need to be in a clustered enviroment ( which it appears you are if you are using a key appearance on the other site ). If all that is in place you can hotdesk back and forth between sites ( i.e log in on set a site A then move to site B and log in there ). Note: 911 will go out the site where the users hotdesk profile is created.

If you have enough licenses, yes.

The Users existing Set DN needs to be changed to a new number.

Then Create the Users DN as a hotdesk user. (User License req'd)

Modify COS to allow Hotdesk Login and enjoy

P.S. My 2 bits. If the locations are fixed as they appear to be, your existing solution is quite viable.

P.P.S.
With MCD 4.0 another possibility would be to use personal ring groups. The secondary phone could be made active/inactive with presence mgmt.
