Has anyone ever attempted to upgrade on a live Linux box from ES3 to ES4? To further complicate matters the live boxes are also running Oracle clusters on them. I'll have a 1 hour maintenance window in which to complete the work, so a reboot is ok. Through my research I haven't been able to find anything ground breaking and I'm afraid that I'll most likely have to break the cluster and upgrade each box one at a time. Any helpful tips that anyone has gained through this process would be most helpful.

Since you've got the RH Enterprise products, what does your paid support from RH say? Not that your question isn't welcome, but rather that you paid for their expertise....

Upgrading should include a backout plan if you've got an availability model that already includes clustering.
