I keep getting wrong set type when i try to login to my extension from the ip phone. I have a 2420 and configured a login code in manager. I see the red desk icon next to my username. The ip phone is a 4620..

everytime i try to login i get "wrong set type"

any ideas?

My guess is that the telephonenumber of the user is the same as a harware extensionnumber.
use a unique number for your hotdeskuser.

That is exactly what's happening. Find the port (in extensions) that has the same extension number as you are using for your 2420 phone. Change it to something unique - you will have to hotdesk into your 2420, it will no longer default to you but will say NoUser instead. On the up side you will now be able to hotdesk into either the 2420 or the 4620.

i see now.. that is kind of a pain in the ass. if i rebooted my pbx will everyone have to hotdesk back in?

i guess its worth it for the trade off

If you reboot the IPO everyone who is set to forced login will have to hotdesk in again, yes.

I'll share a trick with you to make it easy. Create an ExtLogin button on every phone, in the same place on every phone. Let's say you select button 6 (a great choice for 4412 phones). Open up the user "NoUser" and create an ExtLogin button there as well, also on button 6. Now you can simply have users press button 6 to login (button ext # pw #) and press the same button to logout.

if i change my hardware extension to something else, won't my phone just auto login as that everytime IPO is rebooted? why would it go to no user?

thanks a lot for your help guys

No, it only auto logs in as that if the extension number in your user form matches an extension number on a hardward port. If there are no hardware ports that have the same extension as your user form then you default to NoUser.
