Hot desk across sites with 1XP

Hi

This has baffled us a little bit...

We have a 2 site set up, IP500 in each, SCN.
Voice (SCN) goes over LAN2 on separate connection.
data between sites on LAN1. App server on LAN1 main site. Latest R9.1

1 users wishes to hotdesk across sites and use 1XP.
he can log onto his phone on the remote site OK but cannot log onto 1XP - it says his phone is not logged on.

If he uses 1XP to also log onto his phone at the same time using the 'base' extension number, it will log on the phone and 1XP but the 1XP drops out after a split second.

All licenses (power user) on main site, although we did try a power user license on the remote site also to no avail.

Has anyone come across this??
