Hello, All!
I have Oracle 8.1.6 on NT platform. I am trying to automate performing of hot backup.
The main problem for me is backing up archive logs. After backing up of tablespases and controlfiles i should switch logfiles to obtain consistent copy of dayabase after copying of archive logs. But if another logfile switching happens during copying then consistancy will be broken, am i right?
If so then how can i prevent this situation?
May be someone has an examles of such a backup skripts or something?

Thanks in advance!

A hot backup in general is not consistent because it requires forward recovery unlike the cold backup. The best that you can do to avoid such switch is to schedule your job to a non-peak period.
