I have additional entries in my c:/Windows/system32/drivers/etc/Hosts file that I need for virtual hosts for web development. Starting a few months ago, every so often the Hosts file gets reset to its default contents, erasing all my virtual hosts. I notice it when I try to access something and get a "page not found" error - I then copy my virtual hosts lines of code back into the file and restart Apache, and all is well for a while. I have tried to determine when it happens, but I haven't figured out the pattern yet. I asked on the Windows forum ( and someone suggested Norton as a suspected culprit, so I'm asking here. I have Norton 360, the 2007 version I think (I can't find a window to show the version; in fact, there are all kinds of things about this version that I can't figure out...). Anyone know about this?
