I recently used a host who, whilst cheap, were awful. (No surprises there).
I have now signed up for a new host and am paying 4 times as much.
The new host uses a HSPhere control panel, the same as the previous host and the physical paths are the same as my previous host. Everything appears the same.

How are we to know whether one host is merely a reseller of another, is there any way to check?

Thanks,
JB

Viol8ion is right, you can check the whois functions at various sites BUT -- Resellers now also can get customized DNS or what appear to be their own DNS via a reseller. I'd be using NetScan Tools to dig into the actual physical location of the host.

For general info on resellers, I always check

You *do* get what you pay for in this industry, that's for sure. But ripoffs are a plenty too.

I am woman, watch me code.

Thanks everyone, I took at a long look at all of this. Whilst I couldn't find anything amiss with my present host, it was certainly very interesting.

There'sa good potentail business there - checking this out for webmasters!

Cheers,
JB
