Hallo,

I have a Sun machine sitting in a LAN with an internal ip address. It has the host name SUN.
I have set up sendmail to use our mailserver for sending emails. The problem is that sometimes I get an error message that "Domain of sender address email@SUN.company.com does not exist". The mailserver has a valid company.com domain, but of course not SUN.company.com so I get this error.
Is there anyway I can tell sendmail not to include the domain when it sends out an email?

Use the [tt]MASQUERADE_AS(`company.com')dnl[/tt] line in your [tt]sendmail.mc[/tt]. //Daniel

OK - thanks. I am not a sendmail expert, but this means that I have to recompile sendmail (m4) right?

Yes, you will need to recompile [tt]sendmail.cf[/tt] with the command [tt]m4 /etc/mail/sendmail.mc > /etc/mail/sendmail.cf[/tt] (paths may vary, check these first). //Daniel

Quick question.Does runing the above m4 command have any influence on any other processes ? How do I restart sendmail with the new .cf file? Can I just insert the line MASQUERADE_AS(`company.com') in the existing .mc file, and then run the m4 ? Sorry, just need to be sure....

Yeah, insert the line, run [tt]m4[/tt] on it and restart Sendmail so it reads the new [tt]sendmail.cf[/tt]. //Daniel
