does win 95,98se ,me....come with HOSTNAME.exe utility?
I have a few books telling me to use it to tell me what my local host is..but I get the "file can't be found" error..
I think it might be a NT or 2000 command ????? is it DL'able or is there another command (from DOS) to resolve the name of the computer your at?

thanks

My winxp home machine has the hostname.exe file in the windows\system32 directory. Degg

pbxphoneman,

No, I don't believe they do. Open the Network control panel or right-click Network Neighborhood and choose Properties. Click on the Identification tab and the host name is there.

You can also try this...

ping -a localhost

The -a tells it to resolve the name.

yup sure does work....even works without the -a switch

thanks!!!
