I'm running AIX 5L and have a query regarding:

/usr/sbin/hostmibd
/etc/hostmibd.conf

Could someone explain what the hostmibd daemon is used for?
It appears to run at system start from /etc/rc.tcpip and outputs data to a log file specified in /etc/hostmibd.conf

Thanks

It's a SNMP sub-agent, and hostmibd.conf is its configuration file. I don't use SNMP, so can't tell you precisely what it does, but I can recommend that you disable it, along with snmpd, if you're not using SNMP.
