Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post in so appologies if I'm wrong.

I paid for 12 months hosting last November and two months ago I noticed my site was no longer available. When I tried contacting them I got no reply and their site was also not available.

Well I say that, but then I found this
Could you please take a look and post what you see?

Thanks in advance

(Soopa) Troopa,

Are you making us deduce that is the provider with whom you were working that has now disappeared?

And when you say, "Could you please take a look and post what you see?"...please don't also make us guess what you are specifically referring to.

If you want our advice, please help us with more specifics.

If a vendor has "skipped town" without fulfilling their obligations, then typically, you must do the footwork to track them down and sue them for damages. Be sure to include your costs to track them down and prosecute them (i.e., solicitor's fees, court costs, et cetera) in addition to your actual out-of-pocket costs and your losses for them not providing the service they promised you.

I see a website for vfast.co.uk . Is that your errant host? I suggest trying to contact 01233.com to find out what's going on. Doing a whois check on both domains may give you other lines of enquiry.

At the end of the day, though, it may be cheaper & easier to walk away and find a host somewhere else. Companies disappearing overnight and/or ripping you off is one of the risks associated with low-cost hosting. I know it sucks to let people get away with things, but sometimes you have to grin and bear it.

thank you and sorry for the ambiguity. I will fully explain when I get back home.

Santa, thanks for the advise. This is the first time this has happend so I have no idea of what the process is.

The reason I asked for others to view the site and didn't give any explanation was partly so something could be recorded / date stamped showing that the site on 01233.com was advertising as VFast and I didn't want to lead anyone. In actual fact, the site you saw is a mirror of what was, vfast.co.uk

I traced the owner of the domain 01233.com and it turns out that he is the person that suggested to me to move my domain over to vfast as it was cheaper (what I needed). He also owns or managers (not sure which) another hosting company in the UK and he told me vfast were resellers for them. vfast was registered by the same company but this time they played as the agent.

I've contacted him to ask for advise so just have to wait. It's a bit annoying because I have been a reseller for this other company for the last 5 years and now feel like it's them that are messing me about.

I don't really have funds to pay for solicitors etc so the likelyhood is, the one company will deny the connection to vfast and then nothing more but if anyone can offer any advise that may help it would be much appriciated.

well would you believe? vfast.co.uk have their web site back online...

when I tried contacting them using their forms, I found they don't work...none of them, even the ones to make orders...seems odd for a web company that has been in business since November last year.

It looks like someone has 'just' copied the site from 01233.com to vfast.co.uk

right down to the form handler

(seems to work)

however when submitting the same form on vfast.co.uk I get this

The requested URL /_vti_bin/shtml.exe/order.html was not found on this server.

Are you asking a question or just venting? Venting is not productive to us. (although it might be to you)
