Hi, I am trying to do some research as to wether I should be using a load balancer and two servers, or just one server.

I have been trying to locate a white paper or some evidence of big site that I have gone down because of using one server instead of 2 and a load balancer. (even if technically one server should be able to manage)

Or just where I could get any info.

Cheers if you can help. Sorry if this is the wrong forum.

Matt

The alternative to buying 2 servers is to build as much resillience as possible into the single server. This can be done using -

- hot swap dual power supplies, and if possible each power supply connected to a different mains supply
- dual network cards
- UPS
- RAID5 HDD's
